![]() ![]() In other words, gambling is a way for states to specifically target working-class folks and ESPECIALLY folks with addiction tendencies and increase taxes on them in order to decrease taxes on the wealthy. ![]() Many states with increased legalization of gambling actually see lower spending on education, as the increased gambling revenue going to education just results in state legislatures decreasing education spending from other funds or, in many cases, decreasing taxes that have more impact on wealthier citizens, such as property or business taxes. And states push for gambling saying that the taxes fund education, but it rarely works out that way. ![]() Advertisements for gambling tend to be targeted towards the most vulnerable. Just a reminder that legalized gambling - including lotteries, casinos, and sports betting - make most of their money off of working class and addicted folks. ![]()
